What is your cancellation policy? We offer a full refund less a 5% cancellation fee if you cancel 60 days or more in advance. After 60 days, we can only refund your advance payment less the 5% cancellation fee if another guest books the days or week you canceled for. We will refund the full damage deposit. You are only required to pay 50% upon booking.
Can I book a private event or wedding at A Dream to Sea? Yes, special events are considered on a case-by-case basis. Maximum guest count is 70. Additional fees and deposits will apply. Please contact us to learn more.
Does the house have...
...beach towels? Yes, we have plenty of beach towels for our guests. You’re welcome to use them!
...umbrellas and beach chairs? Yes, we have 2 umbrellas and 12 beach chairs.
...books and games? Yes, we have a small selection of books and games that you’re welcome to use.
...a coffee maker? Yes, we have three coffee makers: 1 in the master suite and 2 in the kitchen. Kitchen has a single-cup and standard 12-cup coffee maker. Top floor master suite has a single-cup coffee maker.
...cooking oils and spices? Yes, we have basic cooking oils and spices (salt, pepper, and common spices)
...cookware? Yes, we have pots, pans, cooking utensils, toaster, and more! If you’re looking for something particular, just ask us and we’ll let you know if we have it.
Where is the closest pharmacy and clinic? Buy-Rite Drugs is located in Apalachicola, a 20-minute drive from A Dream to Sea. There is also a CVS pharmacy in Apalachicola. Some of the local grocery stores (see below under “SHOPPING”) sell over-the-counter drugs and medicine.
Is there recycling? There is no recycling pick-up from our home, but you can drop off your recyclables at a public container. It’s located on West Bayshore Drive, 3 blocks past Harry A’s Restaurant. It accepts plastic, aluminum/tin cans, glass, and paper.
Is there free parking? Yes, we have a carport and private driveway free for our guests to use. It holds about 6 to 8 cars comfortably, depending on vehicle size.
Do you allow pets? We generally do not allow pets in our home, however, we will consider small animals on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us to find out more information.
What’s the weather like in the spring/summer/fall/winter on St. George Island? Some of the best months are our off-peak months! May and October boast mild temperatures with very low precipitation. Summers are warm, typically with afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Winters are quite mild.

What do the different color flags on the beach mean? There are four different color flags used to denote weather conditions on the beach. Visit the Franklin County Parks website to learn more about each color and what it means.
What happens if there is a hurricane? Can I get a refund? Please listen to the weather advisories. If there is a mandatory evacuation of the island, we will refund the cost of your stay for the duration of the mandatory evacuation (i.e. a prorated refund). If there is no mandatory evacuation, we cannot refund your stay.
What are the nearest grocery stores? There are two grocery stores on the island: Piggly Wiggly Express (aka “The Baby Pig”) and Sparks & Son’s Island Grocery. There are also two seafood trucks that sell some of the freshest seafood on the island: Doug’s (located on Gulf Beach Dr between 1st St. W and Franklin) and Dail’s (on Gulf Beach Dr. between 1st St. E and Franklin).
Where is the closest Wal-Mart? The closest Wal-Mart to St. George Island is in Crawfordville, about 45 miles away.
Where can I shop for clothing, gifts, and souvenirs?
There are also many restaurants in Apalachicola (about a 20-minute drive). We love The Owl Cafe — a great spot for a gourmet lunch or dinner. They have one of the better wine selections in Apalachicola. For more restaurants in Apalachicola, visit the Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce website.
What kind of food is the island known for? Fresh seafood! Especially oysters, grouper, shrimp, and crab. Apalachicola Bay Oysters are locally-harvested and are known for their distinctive briny flavor and a sweet finish.

How far is Apalachicola? Apalachicola is the closest “town” to the island. It’s about 13 miles from A Dream to Sea, 20 minutes by car.
What is there to do in Apalachicola? Apalachicola is a small, charming port town with plenty of shops, restaurants, bars, and cafes. Below are some of our favorite things to see and do in Apalachicola:

Can you bring alcohol down to the beach? Yes, but it needs to be in a plastic cup or container. Glass is not allowed on the beach. Please do not leave trash on the beach as this is harmful to the wildlife.
Do I have to remove my belongings from the beach each day? Yes, according to the Leave No Trace Ordinance passed by Franklin County, you must remove all items from the beach including beach umbrellas, chairs, towels, coolers, etc. when you leave the beach (especially overnight!). This law was passed to safeguard the natural environment and protect the sea turtles which dig on the beach at night.
Can you bring dogs on the beach? Is there a leash law? Yes, dogs are allowed on the beach. A leash is required at all times according to Franklin County’s leash law.
